Singapore Portrait...

Alongside my commercial and editorial work, i like to create many little projects in order to really push my creative side. It not very often that i take the time to share these projects, they tend to be personal to me and bodies of work i like to look back upon alone. However over the last year or so i've received a few request about my personal work and whether i will share some it. I'm not going to share everything as i like to keep some work for myself, however i will share a particular ongoing project.

My father lives in Singapore and I tend to visit him several times a year. Whenever I'm visiting I add to my ongoing project. The images are a series of street portraits, developing upon the culture within Singapore.

The project really began by accident. As a portrait photographer I've always been fascinated with people. What we are thinking, how we look, what we wear, how we act and so on... When I travel to new location I never find myself photographing landmarks, buildings or anything iconic, I seem to always photograph the people. I feel they tend to give a much better overview of the place rather than the setting. Everyone shoots those types of images, so I like to something a little different.

The following three images are an example of the work...

I don't worry about equipment, lenses or any aspects my work usual carries. My number one aim is always to pick out particular people i find interesting and photograph them. I set out with my camera and one lens to find something new. Some people have no idea they are being shot, others see my camera pointing directly at the and look directly down the lens. Either way I find the images fascinating and will never stop adding to the project...

Red Bull Image Quest...

Every year Redbull hold a competition to find some of the most adventure and create images in the extreme sports field. The following link holds the finalists from the 2010 competition. Really amazing work, i recommend you stop by and have a look...

The Blind Photographer...

Possibly the most inspirational story i've seen this year. Pete Eckert "A Blind Visual Artist" was left blind after suffering from Retinas Pigmentosa, but has not set this limit his life in any way. Prior to his condition Pete followed his created love through art and now channels that creative desire through photography. Pete pursues projects of close nature to him and explains in the video about his most recent project. Truly amazing, i recommend you take 5 minutes to watch it, he does more with no vision than most do with 20/20 vision!

Rob Dyrdek DC... Zero Gravity Photoshoot!

One of the coolest photoshoots i've seen in quite some time. DC set out to shoot promo images of Rob Dyrdeks new shoe, but this being DC it isn't your normal promo shoot. DC hire a zero gravity plane in order to achieve one hell of an awesome image...

Must see video...
